Slipping through trees drenched in shadowed talk,
tripping on the feelings of this eerie long walk.
Moonlight trickles through the tops of trees, far above,
while cobwebs drift on memories of all I've ever loved.
Nothing here but midnight sounds and my swishing stride,
until some thing in the bushes crunches off to hide.
Birds leave their nighttime nests, somewhere in the branches,
as moonlight catches feathers, light flickers, dances.
And, somewhere in this nighttime forest, strewn about my mind,
creatures hang in knots of darkness my eyes can't unwind.
